Come learn the medicine our ancestors lived.
Womb Wisdom
An intergenerational weekend of traditional womb care
A two-day, multigenerational gathering created to bring women and girls together to learn, experience and continue these conversations. Come with your daughter, your mother, your sister or your grandmother, or come on your own.
For generations, women have cared for one another through the many transitions of living in a female body. This knowledge often moved through families and communities, between mothers and daughters, grandmothers, sisters, aunties, midwives and traditional practitioners who understood ways of tending the body through menstruation, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, loss, menopause and aging.
Some of these traditions remain very much alive. Others exist as pieces of knowledge we remember seeing our mothers or grandmothers practice without ever learning why. For many of us, the thread was interrupted altogether.
This weekend gives us an opportunity to become curious about what we have carried, what we were taught, what we were never taught, and what we want to pass forward.
Physical
You want to better understand your body and its changes.
Emotional
You are seeking space to slow down and connect with your feelings.
Ancestral
You feel called to explore your roots and reconnect with traditions.
Creative
You want to make room for creativity and new possibilities.
Trust in the facilitators
“I think the consent-based way Monica and the team operate is really helpful and helps me feel safer in the space.”

Why multigenerational?
One of the most important parts of Womb Wisdom is having different generations in the same room.
A girl beginning to understand menstruation and her changing body will have different questions from a woman who has experienced pregnancy or childbirth. A woman entering perimenopause may find herself wanting conversations she never knew to have with her own mother. A grandmother may remember traditions or stories that have not been spoken about in years.
Come with the women you consider family, or come on your own. This gathering is not only for women who grew up with these traditions. It is also for those who did not. We want to create a space where knowledge can move between generations again, while allowing each person to decide what she wants to carry forward.
Connection beyond the retreat
“It also surprised me that after the retreat, people wanted to hang out… and, we could use the language that we used in the retreat but out in ‘the real world’ and it was seamless. I loved that.”
We will spend time learning the foundations of womb, or vaginal, steaming, including its traditional use, preparation, herbal considerations, temperature, duration, hygiene and the rituals that have surrounded the practice.
Just as importantly, we will talk about when steaming is not appropriate. Traditional use does not automatically mean that a practice is right for every body or every circumstance, and understanding safety is part of learning the tradition responsibly.
Womb steaming is not being presented as a treatment or cure for gynecological or reproductive conditions. Our purpose is to teach the practice, its traditional context and how to approach it with greater knowledge and discernment.
Somatic movement
Our bodies communicate in ways we do not always notice. Stress, physical changes and lived experiences can affect our breath, posture, movement and the way we hold or guard different areas of the body. Through somatic movement and embodied awareness, we will explore the relationship between the breath, abdomen, hips and pelvic space. Rather than asking the body to perform or to arrive anywhere in particular, these practices encourage curiosity, sensation and listening to what is happening within.
Room to honor personal needs
“I liked the flexibility to participate in what you wanted to participate in and also take the time you needed.”

Traditional and ancestral teachings will be identified as such rather than presented as established medical fact. Safety, contraindications and informed consent are part of the workshop, and participants may opt out of any experiential practice.
All participants will be required to complete an informed-consent and liability waiver. A parent or legal guardian must provide consent for participants under 18.

Ready to receive?
Join us for two days of learning, connection, and care. There is a place for you in the circle.
Absolutely. No previous experience is needed, and you are welcome to come with questions and curiosity. We will guide you through each practice step by step.
Can I bring my daughter?
Yes. The workshop welcomes young women approaching or beginning their menstrual cycles, and young participants must attend with a parent or guardian. No one will be asked to participate in an activity that does not feel appropriate for them. Because some practices have specific contraindications and some material will be presented differently depending on developmental age, participation in individual activities may vary, particularly for minors. If you have questions about whether the workshop is a good fit, get in touch.
Do I need to stay at the hotel?
No. You can attend the full workshop without staying overnight. If you would like a room, book directly with the Colton House, separately from your workshop ticket.
Do I need to bring a steaming kit?
No. Your ticket includes a stool, pot, and herbs. We will show you how to use them during the workshop.
Are payment plans available?
Yes, upon request. Email us to discuss a payment plan.
What if my plans change?
Tickets are non-refundable. Please contact us if you cannot attend so we can discuss your options.
